Wedding Advice from Real Brides
Congratulations to our newly engaged couples! This truly is a special time for you and your partner. Enjoy this time to be engaged, build a stronger bond and be present in the moment. Consider delaying your engagement announcement so that the attention is solely on each other for a little longer. An engagement photoshoot is also a great way to capture this moment.
Once your engagement news gets around, it will not be long until the questions start flowing in – Whatβs the wedding date? Where will the wedding be? Whoβs in your bridal party?
To help you get started with the planning process, weβve reached out to past Bridal Confidential contestants and compiled their best wedding advice to help you plan one of the most special and emotional days of your life!
Don’t Procrastinate!
Get organized and plan to have the final details confirmed a month ahead of your big day. This will give you a chance to relax and enjoy some pre-wedding bliss with your partner and those closest to you.
Hire a Planner
A planner is experienced in the art of planning a wedding. They know what to do, theyβre familiar with and have already-built relationships with local vendors (which can help get you that extra photography or DJ hour or a special discount!), and they can be your support system for the entire wedding process.
Just Say No!
Your family and friends may have special requests or favours. Attending to different needs and requests can quickly become overwhelming so itβs important to learn to say βnoβ. Some may not take this well but itβs important that you manage your stress and energy leading up to the biggest Yes of your life!
Trust Your Vendors
Leave it to the professionals. This does not mean your vision will be lost. Your job is to have a clear vision and express this to the professionals. Do your due diligence and ensure the vendors you select are experienced, trustworthy, and reputable. Make sure youβre comfortable working with each vendor and that they understand your vision! Once youβve selected the right vendors to join your team, let go!
Enjoy the Planning Process
When the process feels long or stressful, take a moment to remind yourself what the end goal is – to marry your best friend. Donβt let other things get in the way of this. Youβll look back on not just your wedding day but the planning process leading up to your big day as well.
Stay Positive
In life, attitude is everything and having a positive attitude about your wedding and with those around you will make a world of a difference. Your positive attitude will shine through in your photos and your guests will be left feeling overjoyed knowing they were apart of your joyful occasion.
Plan Your Day
Donβt get overwhelmed trying to abide by traditions or what those close to you think you should do. This is your day so do what makes you and your partner comfortable and happy!
Our personal favourite piece of advice – enjoy every minute! From the planning, rehearsal dinner, photo sessions, ceremony, reception, and honeymoon – remember to take a deep breath and enjoy every little moment.Β
