Why Engagement Photoshoots Are Important

Meet our Guest Blogger: With more than ten years of experience and a dedicated team of photographers and videographers,Β Fedora MediaΒ is here to support you every step of the way. They strive to create a stress-free experience and stunning images that will live longer than your memories alone!

An engagement photoshoot is a great way to get some new photos and practice being in front of
the camera. I don’t know how many times I’ve heard that one partner is much more comfortable
in front of that camera than the other. By practicing being in front of the camera, you will
become more comfortable with it. You are able to try different poses and movements and see
how they look when you receive your engagement photos. For the partner that is more camera-
shy, this is a great way to have some fun and take away some of that pressure!

Getting to know your photographer

Your engagement photoshoot is an opportunity for your photographer to get to know you better
and see how you interact with one another before the big day. It’s also a chance for them to see
what kind of style, poses and locations work best for you. This will help them capture even more
beautiful moments on your wedding day! By getting to know your photographer in a relaxed
setting, they will be able to tell when it’s time for a break or change in scenery by watching how
comfortable or uncomfortable both of you are during each pose. They’ll also get an idea of what
kind of shots and poses work best for each person so that they can focus on those. The better
you get to know your photographer the more fun and relaxed experience you will have on your
wedding day.

Planning your engagement photoshoot

Take the time to plan an engagement photoshoot that is about you as a couple and that you
both will have fun doing. Visit a location that you would normally be comfortable in, for example,
if you like to hike, the woods may be the perfect location. If you’re feeling fancy a studio or
indoor lotion may be a better fit. Be aware that some locations do require photography permits
that must be applied for in advance. You will want to pick a time in the morning or late
afternoon/evening for the best lighting.

Communication with your photographer is key. Once you have worked out the when and where
it’s time to figure out what your engagement photoshoot is all about. What type of photos do
you want? Is there a vibe you are going for? Is there a specific editing style that you like?
Sending over sample photos or a Pinterest board is a great way to explain and show exactly
what you want.

Pet-friendly photoshoots

We love pet-friendly photoshoots, but not everyone is comfortable with you bringing along your
pets. If you do decide to bring your furbaby, it’s important that you let your photographer know
ahead of time. You will also want to bring along a friend that knows your pet to help out. It is not likely that your pet will be in every photo, so it’s nice to have someone there to spend time
with your pet when your taking photos of just the two of you or if they need a break.

Editing

When you receive your photos, this is a great time to talk about editing. Are you happy with
how your photos look? Do you want your photos edited in a different way? Remember, this is
the practice run for you and your photographer. If you would like your photos to look different,
this is a great time to discuss those changes with your photographer, making sure you are on
the same page before your wedding.

Utilizing your engagement photos

There are lots of great ways to utilize your photos. They can be used for save-the-dates,
wedding invitations, wedding websites, guest books or decore. By using your engagement
photos wherever you can, your engagement photoshoot is not just a fun experience but added
value to your wedding. Whenever possible, it’s always a great idea to find multiple purposes for
anything wedding related.

Always make sure to have fun!

Wedding planning can be stressful. Engagement photoshoots are a great way to spend some
quality time with your significant other. It’s a chance for you to explore a new location together,
which can be fun and exciting for both of you. Plus, it’s an opportunity for the two of you to get
creative and show your love in ways that might not normally come up during everyday life – like
posing on top of a rock formation or with each other’s arms around each other while walking
through nature. You’ll also have a lot of fun while doing so, which is what engagement
photoshoots are all about!
